The Hojoya Festival(September 12-18)

One of the “big three” Hakata festivals, the Hojoya Festival is hold for a week every year from September twelfth through the fifteenth.

Along with Shinto rituals, the 1km approach to Hakozaki Shrine is lined with around 500 busy stalls. This 1,000 year-old festival is a great way to herald in Autumn.

The Ohori Koen Japanese Garden

The Ohori Koen Japanese Garden is a beautiful oasis adjacent to the Ohori Park.
Focusing on traditional beauty that makes this a truly Japanese garden,
modern features are added to this wonderful combination of mountain, forestry, and waters.

It has area of 12,000 square meters.Its main features are large pond, artificial hills, and nearby pond, and it also has a meandering stream, dry landscape garden, sukiya-zukuri style teahouse, teahouse garden, and more.

By subway: take Kuko(airport) line and get off at Ohori Koen station (13 min. walk).
