The Hojoya Festival(September 12-18)

One of the “big three” Hakata festivals, the Hojoya Festival is hold for a week every year from September twelfth through the fifteenth.

Along with Shinto rituals, the 1km approach to Hakozaki Shrine is lined with around 500 busy stalls. This 1,000 year-old festival is a great way to herald in Autumn.

2nd ~ 26th of June Kabuki and Super Kabuki

Japanese traditional drama Kabuki and Super Kabuki are played in Hakata-za theater,
 which is about 7min walk from Hana Hostel.

The cheapest tickets are all sold out unfortunately.
But if you really like it, you would buy a better seat.
And if you have never watched but interested in it,
they sell 16 walk-up tickets for each play from 800 yen.
Do have an experience!

18,19th of May Kawawarari Jinkousai festival

The festival started about 450 years ago to thank the god for ending plague.
'Kawawatari' means 'crossing river' literally.
11yamagasa floats and 2 mikoshi,or portable shrines, cross the river on the way
of their procession which is to show their life to the god.
You can see shishimai,or lion dance, and a lots more other things.
