【Hakata Gion Yamakasa 】

Hakata Gion Yamakasa is a Japanese festival celebrated from the 1st until the 15th of July in Hakata, Fukuoka. The festivities are centered on the Kushida Jinja.The festival is believed to be over 770 years old and attracts up to a million spectators each year. It was designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan.

The Hojoya Festival(September 12-18)

One of the “big three” Hakata festivals, the Hojoya Festival is hold for a week every year from September twelfth through the fifteenth.
Along with Shinto rituals, the 1km approach to Hakozaki Shrine is lined with around 500 busy stalls. This 1,000 year-old festival is a great way to herald in Autumn.

Hakata Light up walk 2105

Hakata Light up walk will be held in November 19th to 23rd.
Eight of Hakata's historical temples and shrines are light up during the 5 days.

On 21st to 23rd, local traditional dance will be held and you can eat free udon and soba from 3pm.

You can enjoy both afternoon and night at this event.

Time: November 19th to November 23rd. 17:30~21:00
Place: Kushida Shrine, Tochoji temple, Shotenji Temple, Myotenji Temple, Enkakuji Temple,
         Myorakuji Temple, Shoteiji Temple, Hongakuji Temple

Admission: 1,000YEN (tickets sold at counter)
               1,300YEN(advance ticket)
*Tickets are sold at Tenjin and Hakata Information center, Hakata Traditional Craft Center, 
  Hakata Machiya Folk Museum and etc.
*Tickets on the door are sold only at Kushida Srine, Tochoji temple, and Shotenji temple
